Disordered Eating Podcast
Each week we explore the deeper meaning of our relationship with food and our body. I interview experts in the field of eating disorders and psychoanalysis to bring you the answers about why you do the things you do and bring you one step closer to a healthier relationship with food and yourself.
When It’s Not Working Out With Your Therapist
When you’re in therapy — deep work therapy, psychoanalytic therapy, or otherwise — and hoping to find recovery from an eating disorder, it can be frustrating to feel like it’s not working out with your therapist. Take this as your guide to how to start the conversation in your next session and start finding the disordered eating treatment you need.
When Understanding and Logic Can Only Go So Far with Giuliana Hazelwood MS, LAc
There is SO much information out there on therapy, eating disorders, and self-help that you could spend endless amounts of time reading and learning… but what do you do when you’ve learned so much, and your life STILL isn’t changing the way you’d hoped? Giuliana Hazelwood discusses what she’s discovered about disorder eating and why you can’t think your way out of an eating disorder. Find out more about my online therapy practice in Brooklyn and NYC at my website.
ANNIVERSARY EPISODE! My Signature Approach to Eating Disorders
In the anniversary episode of the podcast Understanding Disordered Eating, I will explore my signature topic on eating disorders: understanding and treating eating disorders through our emotions and emotional experience. Using a psychoanalytic therapy approach, we will explore how eating disorders are developed and maintained, and how to go about treating them. Find out more about my online therapy practice in Brooklyn and NYC at my website.
The Inner Workings of Therapy with Jack Heinemann, LCSW-R
I don’t know about you, but very often I seem to understand something so well in my brain except when I start to explain it in words, all that gets jumbled into a mess. Jack has this knack of taking complex concepts putting into really organized terms in a way that makes you go, “duh!”
In today’s episode, husband and wife (yours truly) talk about the true purpose of therapy and the power that holds. Jack shows us how when we approach our therapy experience as more than a means to an end, an entire world of opportunity is opened up to us. He outlines exactly how this works and how you can use these ideas to further your own self development. Friendly banter is for your extra entertainment 😉.
Jack Heinemann, LCSW-R is a psychoanalytic psychotherapist in private practice and holds a staff position as a clinical social worker at NYU’s community mental health clinic in Brooklyn, NY. He is a graduate of the Training Institute of Mental Health and provides group supervision at the Training Institute’s psychoanalytic training program.
